¿Problema?, ¿que problema?
Nuestro californiano favorito, imagino que o bien inmune al calor, o bien con su aire acondicionado a 15ºC como corresponde a cualquier americano que se precio, nos narra sus desventuras con un flash que lo enloqueció hasta tal punto que tardó 8 horas en aclarar el entuerto.
Si es lo que yo digo, es “el calor”, no hay cosa peor, bueno, si, la Bolsa, los políticos, los banqueros, y demás personajes de mal vivir, pero “la calor” va justo detrás.
Madre del Amor Hermoso, esto no hay quien lo aguante. ¿El qué?

Canon Flash Trick
I spent an hour yesterday swapping flashes and bodies trying to figure out why all my flash shots were wildly overexposed.
I determined that my 320EX had failed and was firing at a uniform high power legal regardless of subject distance.
It wasn’t until 8 hours later I came to wonder if maybe the settings were somehow mis-set to MANUAL inside the flash (if that was even a thing), and aha!, that was the problem!
It wasn’t until I went, in my R8, to MENU > CAMERA > External Speedlite control > Flash function settings > and only there realized it had been set to MANUAL 1/4 power, and that the flash was set that way regardless of the camera to which I had attached it. As soon as I reset it back to ETTL it worked flawlessly again on all my cameras. Live and learn.
The lesson is that if you make flash settings in your Canon’s menu system, they are applied inside the flash, not in the camera itself. If you put that flash on another camera, the flash is still set however you had it on the previous camera!
The settings may be set with a camera, but they reside inside and travel with the flash, they are not in the camera you used to set it.
If you make a weird setting and then move your Canon flash to a different camera, you must remember to reset the flash to however you want it; it will not set itself to however you last had it set on the second camera since the settings all reside in and travel with the flash.
Lesson learned. This was a problem with my 320EX since it has no display and only very limited controls so it wasn’t obvious; other flashes with big displays would have made it much more obvious that they were in MANUAL exposure mode.

Truco del flash Canon
Ayer pasé una hora intercambiando flashes y cuerpos tratando de averiguar por qué todas mis tomas con flash estaban demasiado sobreexpuestas.
Determiné que mi 320EX había fallado y estaba disparando a un uniforme legal de alta potencia sin importar la distancia del sujeto.
No fue sino hasta 8 horas más tarde que me pregunté si tal vez la configuración estaba mal configurada en MANUAL dentro del flash (si eso era algo), y ¡ajá! ¡Ese era el problema!
No fue hasta que fui, en mi R8 , a MENÚ> CÁMARA > Control de Speedlite externo> Configuración de la función de flash> y solo allí me di cuenta de que se había configurado en MANUAL 1/4 de potencia, y que el flash estaba configurado de esa manera independientemente de la cámara a la que lo había conectado. Tan pronto como lo restablecí de nuevo a ETTL, volvió a funcionar sin problemas en todas mis cámaras. Vive y aprende.
La lección es que si realiza configuraciones de flash en el sistema de menús de su Canon, se aplican dentro del flash, no en la cámara misma. Si coloca ese flash en otra cámara, ¡el flash seguirá configurado como lo tenía en la cámara anterior!
Los ajustes pueden configurarse con una cámara, pero residen en el interior y viajan con el flash, no están en la cámara que usó para configurarlos.
Si realiza una configuración extraña y luego mueve su flash Canon a una cámara diferente, debe recordar restablecer el flash como lo desee; no se configurará en la última vez que lo haya configurado en la segunda cámara, ya que todos los ajustes residen y viajan con el flash.
Lección aprendida. Este fue un problema con mi 320EX ya que no tiene pantalla y solo controles muy limitados, por lo que no era obvio; otros flashes con pantallas grandes habrían hecho mucho más obvio que estaban en modo de exposición MANUAL.
